Tigers Beat Cardinals 5-4… oh, and Survivor - A Closer Look

For everyone who didn’t watch the World Series, tonight was Survivor’s night to stretch out the shows and make more advertising dollars. We took “a closer look” at things that have happened in previous shows. Here are a bunch of screen shots from tonight. They did a lot of recaps, so these are just from the new scenes.

Hiki tips over the boat because they didn’t put on the outrigger. Adam and Candice can’t row the boat and abandon it on a sand bar. They shiver. Parvati is concerned. Billy tries to work both JP and the women. Hiki is bummed after losing. They talk about representing. Yul rips up the Hidden Immunity Idol note and floats the box he found it in away, so no one will find it. Parvati flirts. The guys notice. The women notice. JP feels sorry for Steph because she’s getting voted off, right before he gets voted off. Aitu drinks wine and Steph gets drunk.

Survivor shooting back on track

October 23rd, 2006

Fijilive Sunday October 22, 2006

The production of the renowned Survivor television series in Nadogo, Vanua Levu is back on track.

This after Suva lawyer Tevita Fa refused to represent the landowners who are unhappy with the way the Native Land Trust Board handled the matter saying they were not consulted for the use of their land.

The claim was that the land located at Nadogo, which is 250 kilometres from Labasa was classed as “native reserve” and could not be exploited for commercial purposes before being “de-reserved”.

Fa had earlier threatened to take the matter to court and because of the dispute; the production had to be rescheduled.

“I checked with the Native Lands Commission but I found that they were not the genuine owners of the land in question,” he said.

“And because they do not really own the land, which they have been claiming, I cannot do much”.

Survivor producers are reported to have invested $6million worth of infrastructure at the Nadogo site.

Survivor - Cook Islands - Episode SixSurvivor - Cook Islands - Episode Six

After Adam tells Christina that she’s annoying in Tribal Council, she’s upset. Lots of tension around the campfire when they got back. it’s just like home. Adam then proceeds to go off on her again. Adam is as sensitive as a rock. Over at Aitu, Jonathon says that Ozzy is his biggest threat, as Ozzy goes out and catches a boatload of fish, one more time. Everyone at Aitu is loving Ozzfest.

Reward challenge
I got email about this one. The challenge, and there was only one again this week, was that one tribe would have 3 people sitting at a post. 2 people from the opposing tribe would run over and physically pull one person back across the line. When they were over the line, 2 other people from that tribe would run over and grab the next person and drag them, until all 3 people were pulled from their posts and dragged, kicking and screaming back to the line.

People got very upset about this one. Children had to leave the room. TV channels got changed. OF course, we all know it was just good TV. It ws about like NFL Football or Wrestlemania. People were choked and scratched and pulled on. One thing we learned is that you should never choke a police officer, even they are a woman. Christina didn’t take any crap from anyone. She resisted arrest. Candice was actually the hardest to get accross the line. She was an animal. Lots of great photos on the screenshot page.

The Deals
Both tribes go to Tribal Council this week. Christina asks everyone for a second chance. Everyone says “sure, no problem”. Jonathon wants Cao Boi, but Cao Boi is working his “Plan Voodoo” to get 3 votes against 3 to flush out the Hidden Immunity Idol. He tells Yul about this because he thinks that Jonathan has it. He wants 3 votes for Jonathan and 3 votes for Candice.

Survivor - Cook Islands - Episode SixSurvivor - Cook Islands - Episode Six

Tribal Council
Candice blows a kiss to Adam and mouths “I love you” to him. He instantly falls in love and.. oh, wait. That was Billy. Cao Boi is voted out by Aitu. Everyone votes for him except him and Jessica. Plan VooDoo fails. The rest of the tribe go over and get food to eat while they watch Raro. After they bash each other, there is a TWIST! The winners get to “Kidnap” one of the losers before their vote. Aitu picks Nate. He gets to eat, not be voted out, not make a vote, and come back to their camp with them untl the next Reward Challenge. Raro votes off Christina. She was the outsider.

www.post-gazette.com Wednesday, October 18, 2006, By L.A. Johnson, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Mike Corle, front, hosts a “Survivor” party at his Allison Park home each night the show airs.

Each Thursday, Mike Corle gathers with 10 or so friends and family in the rustic warmth of his spacious log cabin living room — complete with lots of rich, glossy wood and comfy, overstuffed brown leather club couches — to watch “Survivor: Cook Islands.”

Hey, it’s a “Survivor” thing; non-fans just won’t understand.

Survivor Watchers

He and his niece, Cheri Hoffer, started the weekly ritual on Wednesday, May 31, 2000, with the very first “Survivor” episode, back when the reality TV genre still was wet behind the ears.

“She lived here … and we were both always so busy we never saw each other and thought the show sounded interesting,” says Mr. Corle, 43, of Hampton.

“We decided to make a point to get together and watch it together,” says Ms. Hoffer, 35, of Millvale. More… »

Survivor 14 In Fiji

According to news reports, Survivor 14 sill be shot in the Fiji Islands.

Fiji, officially the Republic of the Fiji Islands, is an island nation in the South Pacific Ocean, east of Vanuatu, west of Tonga and south of Tuvalu. The country occupies an archipelago of about 322 islands, of which 106 are permanently inhabited; in addition, there are some 522 islets. The two major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, account for some 87% of the total population. The name Fiji is the old Tongan word for the islands, which is in turn derived from the Fijian name Viti.

Geography-

Fiji consists of 322 islands, of which 110 are inhabited, and 522 smaller islets. The two most important islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Viti Levu hosts the capital city of Suva, and is home to nearly three quarters of the population. The islands are mountainous, with peaks up to 1,300 metres (4,250 ft), and covered with tropical forests. Other important towns include Nadi (the location of the international airport), and Lautoka. The main towns on Vanua Levu are Labasa and Savusavu. Other islands and island groups include Taveuni and Kadavu (the third and fourth largest islands respectively), the Mamanuca Group (just outside Nadi) and Yasawa Group, which are popular tourist destinations, the Lomaiviti Group, outside of Suva, and the remote Lau Group. Rotuma, some 500 kilometres (310 mi) north of the archipelago, has a special administrative status in Fiji.

Survivor shooting faces hiccups Fijilive - Fiji news

Fijilive
Friday October 06, 2006

The production of the renowned Survivor reality television series is caught up in a land dispute after Fiji landowners had threatened to go to court over the “unlawful” use of their land.

This has prompted Fiji Audio Visual Commission chief executive Dan Bolea to call on Fiji landowners to realise the importance of a film industry and resolve land dispute matters amicably.

Landowners in Fijis northern island Vanua Levu had argued that the Native Lands Trust Board NLTB did not obtain proper approval of all its owners and instead only obtained the consent of the head of the clan.

The landowners were claiming that the land located at Nadogo 250 kilometres from Labasa was classed as “native reserve” and could not be exploited for commercial purposes before being “de-reserved”.

Their lawyer Tevita Fa had threatened to take the matter to court.

While Bolea said the matter has since been resolved, he said such land issues could have a negative impact on the fledgling film industry.

“If we dont resolve these kinds of matters quickly and amicably, this can affect future productions,” he said.

Citing the issue as a “miscommunication” Bolea said the land was already approved for commercial use as it was de-reserved.

Survivor producers are reported to have invested $6million worth of infrastructure in their Nadogo site.

Jeff Probst worries about racial turn on Survivor celebrities

LA Daily News By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith
Article Last Updated:10/10/2006 03:42:13 PM PDT

Jeff Probst, who heads out for his latest tour of duty as “Survivor” host late this month, is keeping mum about the possibility that the show will once again kick off the competition by dividing the contestants into tribes according to race. He does admit, though, that “I wasnt entirely comfortable being a spokesman for racial diversity.”

He wants us to know that the idea was dreamed up as a result of complaints that the show was “too white,” and says that he and “Survivor” executive producer Mark Burnett felt the program had become “a boring, bland, whining white show.”

He happens to feel the criticism that was heaped on the show was “appropriate and understandable,” and acknowledges that playing the race card was “very dicey.” He does defend the experiment, though, by saying he believes it was handled responsibly.

Though such a division ended after just two episodes during the “Survivor” competition thats currently airing, the commotion it caused was enough, he says, to convince him that “Americans are really frightened about the subject of race, afraid what they say might be considered offensive.”

Would they try the controversial stunt again? He thinks not, but he does say, “You have to try to do things that are different. After 13 seasons, we’re running out of ideas.”

He might be giving a glimpse into the “Survivor” future when he says that if he has his way, “We wont be pitting one race against the other, but we will keep the show diverse and have equal representation among races.”

Survivor Maps: Fiji
