Tribes Merge and Nick is Picked Off

March 31st, 2006

Welcome to Survivor.com! It looks like you are a first time visitor. We have Survivor TV show related news and information, plus rumors and things that CBS doesn't talk about. There are a list of links to browse on the left if you are looking for something. We also have a forum, with spoilers, if you want to see what everyone is talking about. Thanks for visiting!

It started with a rainy night and Shane pushing Courtney away. She was cold and alone and mad at Shane.

Bruce cleans out his rock garden each morning. Sally is on Exile Island. Lots of background shots.

La Mina has tree mail. Go look across your back beach for something out of place. There’s a boat with a note and a box of stuff. The note has a map to the other camp and instructions to not look in the crate until they get there. It’s the merge.

They’re excited. Austin is really happy. He wants to find out who’s aligned with who. What do Shane and Bruce think? “We’re outta here!” Austin, Terry and Nick row off into the sunset.

(I lost my recording for a few minutes, so no screen captures of these.)

Casaya is sitting around, eating rice, and they see the boat coming. They gobble up the rice as fast as they can because they don’t want to share any of it.

After they are done eating and talking about how they will vote off the other tribe, one by one, Shane goes down with open arms to welcome the 3 guys. Big hugs all around. Sally shows up on a power boat to join the crowd.Bruce runs down to give Sally a hug. They are all excited to see each other and to know that they merge has arrived.

They open the crate which contains a banner and paints for the new tribe banner, fruit, wine, crackers, all kinds of food. It’s party time. They have a big fun meal and are one big happy family.

They build a new shelter with the La Mina tarp. Shane and Aras watch as Terry works on it. Shane says to him “Let Terry build it, then we’ll vote him off. Terry tries to schmooze Bruce, to get him to flip. Aras and Shane decide to tell Bruce he’s their “leader”, “the senior member of the tribe”. Blah, blah, blah…

Bruce is loving being in the middle. He’s the swing vote and he knows it.

The moment of drama comes while they are building the shelter. Nick is holding the machete and moving it up and down, while Bruce holds a rope to be cut. Saw, saw, saw, and the rope actually cuts, so the machete swings up and hits Bruce in the mouth.

He chips a tooth and has a small cut on his lip. Nick feels terrible. Bruce laughs it off. No big deal. Where was that boat in the night taking someone away in the promo? They built this up so much and it was no big deal. I want to see screaming and burning flesh, followed by a helicopter ride to the hospital. I’m glad Bruce was all right, but there was no drama. Sheesh.

The new tribe name is “GITANOS” which mean “gypsies” in Spanish. Bruce paints the new banner because he’s an art teacher.

The negotiations begin. Austin talks to Aras and Nick about who’s with who. Austin realizes it’s going to be hard to flip anyone. Terry talks to Shane and him and Cirie flipping. Shane mocks him. Terry talks to Cirie about flipping and CIrie is nice, but mocks him. Shane finally tells him that he’s not going to flip. They are all pretty arrogant about being in control. Shane says it’s all about getting to the merge with the numbers and they have the numbers.

Immunity Challenge
It’s no longer tribe immunity, it’s individual immunity. The challenge is to hang on a horizontal pole with your arms and legs wrapped around it for as long as you can. Last person to get off wins immunity.

Cirie is 1st. Aras next, then Bruce and Sally. Shane asks if there is any food to tempt them off. Jeff tells him no and Shane drops next. Danielle and Courtney follow. Austin is there for 30 minutes, then its’ down to Nick and Terry.

Terry lasts 46 minutes to win immunity.

More negotiating. Terry and Bruce talk. Austin and Bruce pray together. Austin knows he’s going home tonight.

Shane calls a big tribe meeting. Pretty arrogant. They all decide on Nick to go home. They all get along. Terry is upset about the way that Shane calls everyone, so they all decide on voting for Shane.

Tribal Council
Austin says that he was trying to appear weaker than he is so that they won’t vote him off. He tells this to everyone. Moron. Shane says that they have the numbers so it’s not a big deal. The big drama is Bruce. Will he flip and tie the vote? They all vote. 4 for Shane and 6 for Nick. Good by, Nick. We hardly knew you.

Next Time On Survivor…
It looks like Terry admits to having the immunity idol and offers it to someone. Since the last promos were bogus, I’m not believing this one either.

What did you think of this show? Sorry to see Nick go? Will the vote be down tribe lines from here on out? Tell us in the forum!

Survivor Winner sticks to her Christian beliefs

March 23rd, 2006

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Would you take your top off for peanut butter?”

Danni Boatwright was in Los Angeles interviewing for “Survivor: Guatemala” when one of the producers asked her that question. Previous female contestants on the show, desperate for a food treat, had done that.

“No!” she responded adamantly.

“Who is the most famous person you’ve slept with?”

By this time, “I was mad,” she said recently. “Evidently from the (audition) tape I sent in (one of about 50,000), they thought I was a party girl because I was fun-loving.”

But Boatwright, 30, a native of Tonganoxie, Kan., is a practicing Christian, a member of an Assembly of God Church and part of a family chock-full of ministers. She and her family spent summers on church mission trips.

For the second round, she said, the interviewers came at her another way.

“You’re from Kansas, so you’re a conservative and probably a Republican. So you hate Jews.”

“`No, I don’t hate Jews,’” she recalled saying. “`My good friend in high school was Jewish. I think you have Christianity all wrong,’” she said. “It’s all about loving people. While on earth, you’re not perfect, but the Lord will forgive you for your sins. I wouldn’t judge anybody, and I don’t think anybody should judge people.” More… »

Aras - Full Frontal Nudity

Aras - Full Frontal Nudity

You find the most surprising things in the forum. Recently, I read a post that said:

Did anyone else see Aras exposed? It happened in episode 3 (which I didn’t see when I watch it) or maybe CBS caught it then, but I did see it when they played the previews before episode 4. It is at the beginning when Bruce is coming back to the tribe at night and Aras is bent over and he is COMPLETELY EXPOSED you see everything.

So, of course, I had to go look through my archive to find the scene that they refer to. Here is a thumbnail of it. You can click on the thumbnail to see the forum thread that includes the full size image of “Aras - Full Frontal Nudity”. I couldn’t post the full size image here because we need to protect our children.

No Survivor This Week. Come Back Next Week.

March 21st, 2006

The NCAA March Madness is upon us, so Survivor is pre-empted this week. Come back next week for more juicy Survivor goodness.

Shane seems to have calmed down a bit and may survive to anger us again. The Cassaya alliance is falling apart and Cirie is loving that. The boys club just cut loose one of their own, so they may fall apart.

Who will lose the next tribe member?
Who is the medical emergency?
Do we lose them altogether or is this more hype?
Will Sally survive the boys club?
Will Danielle kill Shane in his sleep?
Will Cirie keep under the radar until the end?
Will La Mina ever catch any fish?
Will Courtney find her own rock garden to do Yoga in?

So many questions. Come back next week and find out what happens.

Highlights Show - March 15th

March 15th, 2006

Tonight was a recap with added new footage off things so far. There were 13 new scenes that we’ve not seen before. The first was the young women trying to open a coconut. They were worthless with a machete. Sally finally had a good whack at it and cut it open.

Tina, with the older women, found some oysters in the rocks, when she was out walking by herself. She ate one and was going to save the others for herself without telling anyone else about them. She kept to herself and that was her ultimate undoing. I hope they were worth it, Tina.

Bruce would do Karate in the night at the older men’s camp. He’d go by himself down to the beach and act out his imaginary fights. Shane and Dan were making fun of him back in bed. Shane’s quote - ” He’s going down there to get his Miyagi on and that’s fine. I like weird people.”

Misty tried to make people believe that she had the idol after she was on Exile Island. The young women sat around talking to her about it. She told them all the details that she could make up about finding it. Courtney tried hard to make her slip, but she worked hard at telling lies. I have no idea why he did this. This is why I would vote someone off the island, if I thought they had the idol. I’d lie if I did have it. Sally said she didn’t buy it and I don’t think anyone else did either. Probably why you went away, Misty.

Bruce caused problems at the older men’s camp by wanting to wash his hands with the last half bottle of water they had. It was raining and they were by the beach, but he needed THAT water. Shane was not happy about it. Dude, hold your hands out in the rain to rinse them off. Hold the bottle out to catch more water while you’re at it. I’m thinking that Bruce is not the sharpest knife in the drawer after seeing this.

The next day, in the rain, the young women bond as they sit under their shelter and sing a song in spanish that Courtney taught them. They were all happy. Enjoy this moment, because it won’t happen again.

After the merge, Cirie and Melinda at Casaya, are licking wet leaves to get some water because they are so dehydrated. They like it. Tastes great. Less filling.

Casaya, the tribe of whackos, has a meeting after losing, where everyone yells at everyone else. Bobby’s mad because he’s on the outside. Bobby tells them that they are acting like 7th grade girls, which they are. Aras tells them to all yell and get the negativity out. They all decide to make Aras their leader at the challenges and do what he says. “We’ll all work together” he says.

Casaya is also hungry. Aras finds a snake and kills it. They cook it over the fire and all eat him, but only after Courtney tells them that snakes mean “transformation” and this is symbolic of their tribe being transformed. “It tastes like chicken!” says Bobby.

Shane is very close to his son, Boston. (Yeah, but I didn’t name him.) “Today is his 13th birthday and I probably shouldn’t have missed that” he says. Yeah, probably not, but you got your tribe to sing him “Happy Birthday” on national TV, so that’s pretty cool. You’re a great father after all, Shane!

At La Mina, we’re shown Austin and Sally having a heart to heart talk about her life. She’s divorced and her parents have pulled back from her because of it. She’s really upset by that and Austin is touched by her story. So this is why Austin pulled so hard for her to stay and Ruth to get cut loose. It all makes sense now.

Bobby is sleeping all day at Casaya, which irritates Danielle. Cirie gets him up to build the fire. Danielle is telling him every little thing to do, so he starts to ask “You want me to put the wood right here, on the fire?”. Danielle thinks he’s serious and gets mad at him. Cirie’s laughing. Danielle can’t believe he’s so stupid. He’s not, Danielle, you are.

The last new scene is about soap. Casaya (Why are all these about Casaya tonight?) wins soap and brushes in a challenge. Shane uses a brush and gets black hairs on it, which grosses out Courtney. She decide that their will be a “boys soap” and a “girls soap”. Shane says “and I wanted to tell her, no, that’s the lunatics soap.” The last shot is of Shane in the ocean with his hand down the back of his swim suit saying “and I’m using YOUR bar.”

Next Time On Survivor…
The next new show will be in 2 weeks, on March 30, when “the rewards will be bigger and the risks greater”. Shane says “I’m turning this whole game around”. Then we see a “medical emergency where one survivor may be forced out of the game.”

What did you think of this show? Hate reruns? Love new footage? Tell us in the forum!

Astronaut says NASA could use Survivor

March 12th, 2006

ottawasun.com

After four space walks on various shuttle missions, Dan Berry can now say that Survivor is tougher, in a way.

Berry is the latest to be voted off Survivor: Exile Island.

He told the Early Show on CBS that when you’re on a space walk, “you have thousands of people supporting you” on the ground.

He wanted to see what it was like to do something like Survivor on his own.

He says NASA could use Survivor as an “interesting model” on how to pick crews for long space missions.

Astronaut Forced Out Survivor’s Airlock

SPACE.com
By Robert Z. Pearlman

Named a NASA astronaut in 1992, Barry flew three times over his 13 years with the space agency. His first flight in 1996 was aboard Endeavour. He then flew twice again on Discovery in May 1999 and then in August 2001. His two later missions were to the International Space Station. In total, he logged over 734 hours in space with nearly 26 of them outside the spacecraft.

“I’ve been to orbit three times on the space shuttle, have done four spacewalks, been to the space station twice,” Barry recalled to his teammates Nick and Austin. Terry, the third La Mina man and a former F-14 pilot, had been let in on Barry’s secret identity when the two first met 14 days earlier.

“It wasn’t like hiding anything from you,” explained Barry. “It was because I didn’t want to be the ‘astronaut guy’. It was fun to be [just] Dan.”

The news left the two younger men in awe of their new found and well-traveled friend.

“I never thought I’d even meet an astronaut, never mind live with one,” confided Nick. “I mean the guy has looked at the Earth from space, so he’s an incredible guy and I knew that from the start but to learn that, and how humble he is about being an astronaut is pretty amazing.”

Austin, the 24 year old author, responded more colorfully.

“He actually has dined with Neil Armstrong.?á?í?ôDanfuego’ is a stud. I told you from the get-go, he’s a pimp.”

“Full Coverage: Space ‘Survivor’ Dan Barry”

collectSPACE

March 10, 2006 — Entering his 14th day as a contestant on the CBS network’s reality TV show, Survivor Panama: Exile Island, retired astronaut-turned-castaway Dan Barry was feeling pretty good about his current situation.

“I am solid with five people. I know there is one person in front of me for sure if we were going to lose again,” said Barry just moments before he was voted out.

“It’s incredible how fast things turn,” Barry continued.

The day had started out well. Sitting alone on the beach of his team’s La Mina camp, Barry was left alone to enjoy the sunrise.

“It’s beautiful out here, another beautiful day in paradise.”

Astronaut Daniel Barry got a hero’s farewell on ‘Survivor: Exile Island”

CANOE — JAM! Television
‘Space Man’ blasts off ‘Survivor’
By JOHN POWELL — JAM! Showbiz

Houston, we have a problem.

Although he was voted off last night, real-life astronaut Daniel Barry made his mark on ‘Survivor’ by playing one of the most honourable and decent games in recent memory. In such a cutthroat contest, Daniel’s style of gameplay was indeed a rarity.

Unlike some who blew several microchips upon discovering they were next on the chopping block, Daniel left the game with his head held high by publicly acknowledging he was responsible for La Mina’s loss at the combined Reward-Immunity Challenge and should be held accountable at Tribal Council.

Although it was an emotional decision to vote out his pal, even Daniel’s kindred spirit at La Mina - Terry Deitz, the ex-fighter pilot - cast his ballot against Daniel. Honouring their friendship, Terry warned Daniel before Tribal Council about how the vote was shaping up so that he wouldn’t be blindsided.

Following the painful vote, Terry, Austin and Nick stood respectfully as Daniel saluted them all before blasting off to Loser Island.

Dan’s Got The Right Stuff, But Goes Home

March 10th, 2006

Shane wants to get out of the alliance. He’s slowly losing his grip. He keeps Danielle up, telling her that he wants out of the alliance because she voted emotionally and it was bad decision. She just wants some sleep and tells him to argue in the morning.

Courtney and Cirie decide that Shane is OUT! Cirie giggles. Cirie tells Danielle what Shane said. Cirie giggles. The 3 of them sit around talking about how much they want Shane to be gone. Cirie giggles some more. For being afraid of leaves, this girl’s pretty smart to lay back and watch the fireworks show.

Over at Boys Club, La Mina, Sally is feeling the heat. She knows she’s out next. They are all hungry and there’s some shots of them eating these little fish. I was eating tacos at the time, so I had to avert my eyes. I just hate the gross stuff on the show.

Dan decides to tell his secret of being an astronaut to the guys. They were all impressed. 3 space shuttle flights, space walks, being on the space station. Austin says “Wow! He dined with Neil Armstrong!”. The man’s man in the man’s tribe. Dan’s looking pretty good.

Shane says he wants out, but he swore on his kid, so he wants permission to go back on his word, which everyone says “Heck Yeah! We’re sick of you and you’re outta here!”, only they said it nicer.

Well, not much nicer. Danielle, Courtney and Shane go a few rounds of bashing each other. They yell at him for lashing out at them and being mean. He has “outbreaks”. He’s so tired of them. Aras says that he’s tired of Shane and really wants him out of the alliance too. Shane tells Aras that he really hates the two girls. “She’s a meatball!” he says of Danielle.

Reward Challenge
Immunity Challenge
One challenge for both reward and for immunity. 3 people run out and untie large puzzle pieces. They unhook them and carry them back. These are large, heavy pieces. When they get all of the pieces, the other 2 people put them on a playing table thing where there are spinning corners to where the pieces go. They have to pin the corner piece to get their puzzle piece to fit.

Reward is a BBQ in a local village. The losers have to send someone to exile island and that person does NOT go to tribal council. The winners essentially pick one person who can not be voted out.

La Mina is way out in front from the start. They get all of their pieces first and have a huge lead when Dan and Sally start to solve the puzzle. Dan blows this. They fall way behind. Casaya just nails each of the pieces while Dan is standing there looking. It’s not even close when Casaya wins.

Now, if you were Casaya, who would you pick as the weakest member of the Boys Club? Yup, Sally takes the trip. She’s ecstatic. She says it’s a gift and that she gets a little “girl time, away for the boys”. She knows she’d go home otherwise. Thanks, Casaya!

The BBQ in the village is wonderful. Good food and a lot of it. Everyone is so happy that they won. They get beer, soft drinks, chicken, rice, beans, more and more food. They’re happy! Dancing with the locals, playing soccer with the locals. Life is good… For everyone but Cirie. She was hoping they’d lose and Shane would go home. She says that “it’s really nice to be around other people than these people. I know it’s only day 15, but Damn! We really needed that.”

Why has Shane been so cranky? That’s right, because he decide to quit smoking on national TV. It’s been 2 weeks. He finds a local with some cigarettes. He trades him something for a smoke. He said he would have traded him everything he had and he’d have walked around naked all day for that smoke. He looks like he’s having sex with that cigarette as he smokes it. It’s an amazing thing to watch. He’s in ecstasy. “There I was, in a stupor, and I thought to myself that that was really bad decision”. You’re finally right, Shane…

Shane, after his smoke, apologizes to Danielle, who accepts it. Everyone is happy. Everyone is full. Everyone loves everyone now. One big happy family. Except Cirie. She was hoping for it all to blow up, but now “Damn!”

La Mina has to make the hard decision about which of the boys to vote off. Dan and Terry have an agreement. Nick and Austin have an agreement. Dan tells Nick it’ll probably be “2 v 2″. Austin has a little talk with terry about how Dan is the weakest of the 4 of them and should be the one gone. Terry says he “will make the Joe Torre decision” and vote against Dan.

Terry talks to Dan and tells him that’s the way it is. Dan says “I screwed up. I take responsibility. I understand.” Wow. Better man than me. Terry says about Dan that “He’s got the right stuff.”

Tribal Council
The four men have talked about it all afternoon and they know it’s going to be Dan. He takes responsibility again. Dan is a stand up guy. They all say it would have been Sally and that this is a hard decision. Then they vote Dan off the island.

They all stand and salute him as he leaves. This is a game of lying, cheating and backstabbing, but Dan has the most honor of anyone in this game since Rudy in episode one. I, too, salute you, Dan. You’re a good guy.

Next Time On Survivor…
It will be a “special show” is on a “special night” next week. Wednesday instead of Thursday. Mark your calendars or set your Tivos. Wait, your Tivo will Know. The show will show “new scenes that will shock and amaze you.” We’ll see more about their personal lives.

The next new show will be in 3 weeks, when “the rewards will be bigger and the risks greater”. Shane says “I’m turning this whole game around”. Then we see a “medical emergency where one survivor may be forced out of the game.”

Who is it? Will Shane turn it around? Will Sally survive Boys Club? Tell us in the forum!

Survivor’s “Bob Dog” Gets Neutered

March 8th, 2006
Insider - tvguide.com
by Allison Corneau
Bobby Mason by Monty Brinton/CBS
Bobby Mason, Survivor: Panama

Bobby Mason flew under Casaya’s radar for the majority of his five-episode run on CBS’ Survivor: Panama?á?í?ìExile Island (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET), but the Los Angeles native claims that his limited camera time was a purely strategic ploy. When TVGuide.com caught up with the mighty “Bob Dog” after his elimination, he barked about his on-screen portrayal and about what ?á?í?ì OK, namely who ?á?í?ì really irked him during his island stay.

TVGuide.com: What has the reaction been like since your elimination episode aired?

Bobby Mason: People were really angry about the way I was treated. No one really saw a lot of the good stuff that I was doing early on in terms of strategizing. All of a sudden, producers break me out as [being] lazy and taking dumps and stealing stuff. People who I talk to know the real deal and understand it’s entertainment. I’m not saying I played the game perfectly ?á?í?ì there are some things I would have done differently ?á?í?ì but for the most part, I was locked out early on, all because of that funky alliance that started.

TVGuide.com: Is it fair to say that your Survivor claim to fame is being the first contestant to christen “Casa de Charmin”?

Bobby: That was actually my strategy in stealing the wine ?á?í?ì I didn’t want to be known as the “toilet dude,” so I figured, “be known as the wino.”

This week’s promo

Disunity among one tribe results in no sleep for the group, as one Survivor’s continuous outbursts last throughout the night.

A strong tribe is weakening from the lack of food and water, but finds strength in relationships they are forming on the island. Will this be enough to win the next Challenge?

For one castaway, being sent to Exile Island is a blessing rather than a curse.

Having an alliance doesn’t always guarantee safety, as a twist in the game leaves one tribe with a big decision to make and places one Survivor’s fate in the hands of another.

Don’t miss all the action Thursday, March 9, 8PM ET/PT.

Bobby “The Duece” Is Dropped

March 2nd, 2006

Survivor - Panama - Exile Island

It was a close call last week, between Sally and Ruth Marie with Sally staying. This made Sally very happy and Dan very unhappy. Bruce decides to build a zen rock garden while everyone else tries to build a fire. Aras takes exception to this and goes off on Bruce. Aras is “disrespectful” while Aras is “childish” and they both make “good TV”.

Survivor - Panama - Exile Island
