It?á?í?ôs not often folks get an invitation to spend 30 days in some remote land, starved, bug-bitten and tortured mentally and physically. It?á?í?ôs even rarer that they would line up for the opportunity.
But when the payoff is $1 million, and the show is the top-rated ?á?í?Survivor,?á?í? people get in line.
Locally, the line will start at Cabellero?á?í?ôs Landeck Tavern where, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, hopeful survivors can audition for the show. A second round of auditions will be held Jan. 25 at Buffalo Wild Wings Bar and Grill in Lima.
Representatives from WLMO-TV will be on hand at both auditions to conduct and videotape interviews with the would-be contestants. Those interviews will then be forwarded to the show?á?í?ôs producers for judging.
?á?í?Basically, they come out and they have two minutes to get in front of the camera and tell CBS why they should be on ?á?í?Survivor,?á?í? said Mike Sauve, WLMO sales manager.
Participants are asked to bring a completed application to the auditions. Applications and rules are available through a link on the WLMO Web site, www.cbslima.com.
WLMO is one of only two Ohio CBS stations holding official auditions for the show. Sauve said the station has received application requests from as far away as New York.
?á?í?We?á?í?ôve had people from all over the Midwest get in touch with us. We had one guy from West Virginia send us a picture in a bikini,?á?í? Sauve said. ?á?í?He said where he was they had 800 people show up for the auditions so he was hoping to come down here and maybe get noticed a little more.?á?í?

Hundreds turn out to prove they’re a ‘Survivor’
Some people arrived as early as 5 a.m. Monday at The Bar on Holmgren Way in Green Bay to stand in line for a chance to be part of the 13th edition of the CBS show “Survivor.” Thirty people were in line at 8:30 a.m. Monday and 100 stood in line by 9 a.m., when auditions began, according to Monica Zegers, marketing director for WFRV, Channel 5. A total of 270 people applied, she said. Participants had two minutes, which were taped, to explain why they should become part of the next cast.
“We had some in chicken suits and some who wanted to take all their clothes off, but we told them they had to leave something on,” Zegers said with a laugh.
Tapes will be sent to Los Angeles, she said, and those who have been selected to advance will receive calls in early March. The next step would be a second interview in Chicago. Last time, 10 people from the Green Bay site made it to the second round, she said.
CBS hasn’t released the location of the 13th edition or the exact start date. The 12th edition is set to premiere Feb. 2.

It’s all systems go for Survivor fans as Sports betting site Sportsbook.com posts odds for Survivor Panama - Exile Island. This is the twelfth Survivor in the series and it premieres on CBS on Thursday, February 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT…
Having a look at the CBS website, this promises to be a cracker with potentially some very entertaining characters. There is a 24 year old Yoga instructor, Aras Baskauskas, who is currently listed as the favourite at 5-1. Next in line are a 46 year old airline pilot and former Navy pilot, and a 45 year old Karate instructor, Bruce Kanegai. They are both at 6-1.
To make things interesting, there is Astronaut Dan Berry and a former Miss Texas Teen USA, Misty Giles at 8-1. Thro in a nurse, Cirie Fields, and Melinda Hyder, a 32 year old professional singer from Sevierville, TN (both 15-1) and things can only get interesting.
This instalment promises to have many twists, as the contestants will be divided into four groups by age and sex. this is the first time there will be four tribes.
“Players will be exiled to a deserted Island where they can work for immunity which brings a unique new twist,” said Peter Childs, odds maker at Sportsbook.com. “We considered the past winners and assessed the new contestants to come up with our odds - but this could be wide open with the new format.”

In this latest, 12th version of the show, each episode will dispatch at least one cast member to a separate island miles away from the others. Hidden on the island, however, will be an immunity idol. ‘Survivor’ casting enters a new orbit
The next cast of CBS’ “Survivor” will include a retired astronaut who flew in space three times - twice on the space shuttle Discovery.
The 12th version of the popular game, this time set in Panama, will feature tribes briefly separated by age and an exile where a contestant can profit after stomaching some time alone.
Dan Barry, a 52-year-old ex-astronaut from S. Hadley, Mass., is among the 16 cast members.
Barry last flew in space in 2001, and he has four space walks to his name. A yoga instructor, nurse, engineer, lawyer, social worker and logging sports performer are among his competitors.
On “Survivor: Panama - Exile Island,” at least one cast member each episode will be sent alone to a separate island miles from the others. Hidden on the island, however, will be an immunity idol.
The next “Survivor” edition begins on CBS Feb. 2.
CBS to send ‘Survivor’ into ‘Exile’
Twelfth installment of reality show heads back to Panama — site of ‘Pearl Island’
For its 12th installment, “Survivor” is returning to the number of contestants - 16 - it used in its first several seasons, and it’s headed back to Panama, site of the “Pearl Islands” season. But little else about the start of the game will be the same.
For starters, the contestants, who range in age from 24 to 58 and include a retired astronaut, a yoga instructor and a logging-sports promoter and performer, will be divided into four tribes of four in the first episode - older men, older women, younger men and younger women. Then, there’s the big wrinkle that gives this season its name: “Survivor: Panama - Exile Island.” More… »
‘Survivor’ Winner Hatch on Trial for Taxes
By RAY HENRY
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Reality show star Richard Hatch is merely the “world’s worst bookkeeper,” not the tax evader that prosecutors make him out to be, his attorney said Thursday as the “Survivor” winner’s tax fraud trial got under way.
Prosecutor Andrew Reich told jurors the government would prove Hatch willfully failed to report his $1 million winnings from the hit CBS show to avoid paying more than $200,000 in taxes.
In fact, Reich said in his opening statement, Hatch sought a $4,500 refund from the IRS that year. More… »
“Survivor: Panama” Cast Unveiled
A modern day caveman, a Mr. Miyagi wannabe and a hot mama.
If their self-proclamations are any indication, this season’s batch of Survivor hopefuls may be the most colorful yet.
CBS on Monday unveiled the latest batch of 16 castaways ready to battle it out for a million bucks in the granddaddy of reality TV’s 12th edition, Survivor: Panama–Exile Island, set to premiere Feb. 2.
Along with the identities of the Gilligans, the network also announced some tweaks with the show’s formula.
Newly reupped host Jeff Probst will kick off the 39-day contest by dividing the competitors into tribes of four, separated into the politically incorrect groupings of Older Men vs. Older Women vs. Younger Men vs. Younger Women. The four tribes will become two in a “schoolyard pick” during the second episode.
Open Casting Calls
An Open Casting Call is an event your local station holds for SURVIVOR. When you attend an Open Call, you will fill out an application and be put on camera there. You do not need to bring your own tape, and you do not need a copy of your passport. Open Calls alleviate the headaches and expenses of making your own tape, transferring it to VHS format and mailing it.
These events are also lots of fun. Meet fellow SURVIVOR fans, make some new friends, enjoy. Your local station will send the tape directly to the casting department, where it will be watched by the casting team and the same as it would be if you sent in an individual tape yourself.
Good luck, and have fun!
