Quoting from The Voice Tribune - Into the Wild: Sandy Burgin to compete on ‘Survivor’ reality show

Burgin tried out for the show once before, but didn’t hear anything. So she tried out again, thinking she was trying out for “Survivor: Gabon,” but landed a spot on “Survivor: Tocantins – the Brazilian Highlands.”
After auditioning, Burgin returned to Louisville and started working with personal trainer Henry Loveless.
“I trained for three and a half months, just in case I made it,” she said. “At my age, I knew I had to get some physical power under my belt and that I had to survive the elements (in Brazil).”
Burgin trained four or five days a week. Her workouts consisted mostly of weight lifting.
“I was just more or less toning my body because I knew I would be doing physical challenges,” she said. “I was prepared to carry my weight.”
