Brendan on Survivor Tocantins
MINTURN, Colorado — Minturn, Colorado resident Brendan Synnott, 30, is one of “Survivor’s” newest cast members. CBS announced the 16 people competing on “Survivor: Tocantins — The Brazilian Highlands” Thursday. Season 18 premieres Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. on CBS.In a video clip on cbs.com, Synnott talked about competing on the popular reality television show.
“I love adventure. I love competition. I love just playing games. When the opportunity arose to be on ‘Survivor,’ I said, ‘God, it’s like the ultimate game to go play. Why not go play it?’ And to go have an adventure in a cool, far-off land that I haven’t been to before is an awesome, awesome experience.”
Smiling, Synnott readily admitted his greatest fear is getting voted off the show first.
“I don’t like to lose,” he said.A press release from CBS calls Tocantins one of the most rugged locations ever visited.
“Left stranded in the majestic interior of Brazil for 39 days, these castaways will battle scorching temperatures, torrential downpours and dangerous wildlife all in an effort to outwit, outplay, and outlast one another in order to win the title of Sole Survivor.”
Synnott’s biography online at cbs.com says the Vanderbilt graduate is “all about playing the game.”
“Raised by a single mom in Connecticut, Brendan pulled himself up by the bootstraps to be the co-founder and CEO of Bear Naked, a natural food brand that was recently acquired by a major corporation. Despite his financial success, he is not all about the money,” the bio continues. “Success to him, however, is about more than simply creating, building and selling a thriving business; it’s about hard work, passion, fun and surrounding yourself with the best people.”
Bear Naked, a company Synnott launched in 2002 in Connecticut with his friend Kelly Flatley, was bought by the Kashi subsidiary of the Kellogg Company in late 2007 for roughly $60 million, according to CNN.

If the others find out he sold his company for $60 million they may resort to cannibalism for a food entree.
