Whoa, not so quick. First, our snappy recap of “Survivor:China” finale.

Amanda won the reward challenge, but of course on Survivor it’s never that easy. She had to choose either one, or two, other people to share pizza, beer and brownies with her. If she chose no one, she would have appeared to be fair with all of her alliance. But she also would have come across as selfish.

She kept the Courtney warning in mind: “An angry Todd is a bad Todd.” Best to keep him satisfied, so she chose the schemer - who wouldn’t have a chance to smack talk her while she was eating without the other three.

And she wisely decided not to choose between Denise or Courtney, because to take one would have tipped her hand.

As Courtney says, “Todd’s a slippery little sucker.” Todd’s been able to weasel his way into more food by getting chosen to go on rewards won by others because no one wants him hanging around camp plotting against him. More… »

SURVIVOR: CHINA — Season Finale By Buzz Byrne

16 castaways, 2 tribes, 39 days…ONE SURVIVOR! It all comes down to this.

The grand dame of reality shows has taken some lumps. Ratings have lagged, the game has become static and every new complication feels forced. This season has done nothing to turn this trend around. The final four left to compete tonight are not personalities that anyone will remember in two weeks and the location has been practically useless. Even the stupid bonfire where they traditionally burn down their camp was as intense as a lazy wet belch. This has been the least strenuous, least challenging season of SURVIVOR.  Every other day someone was winning a feast. On day 37 Amanda says, “I’ve been in a funk because I haven’t eaten in a couple of days.” Couple of days?? The first seasons of this show, players were so starved by day ten that they would wake up in the morning and then pass out from exhaustion. Not great drama but at least we got to see some suffering. ‘Survivor: China’ Winner: Todd Herzog! Monty Brinton / CBS

A new millionaire is crowned!

Toothy TODD HERZOG’s scheming paid off Sunday night as the handsome 22-year-old flight attendant was named the million-dollar winner of “Survivor: China.”

Todd outwitted, outplayed and outlasted beauty queen AMANDA KIMMEL, lunch lady DENISE MARTIN and sarcastic COURTNEY YATES to take home the coveted prize. Most of his competitors acknowledged Todd’s ability to hide his motives and maneuver players in the game of wit and survival, including ally Courtney, who called him “a slippery, little sucker.”

“He will not look out for you, he doesn’t care, he’s looking out for himself,” Courtney said during the two-hour finale.

She also came under fire for her blunt comments, and acknowledged when facing her fellow jurors that her “winning personality” probably ruffled “a few feathers along the way.”

But even lunch lady Denise, whom Courtney said “sucked at life,” revealed that she forgave the blonde New Yorker.

“There’s no hard feelings,” she said. “It’s just a game. I love Courtney.”

Her forgiving nature paid off: At the end of the reunion show, host JEFF PROBST announced that creator MARK BURNETT was gifting Denise with $50,000.

The series’ next season, “Survivor: Micronesia,” pitting show fans against past favorites, will debut in February.

Survivor: China - Todd Herzog is the Winner by LYNN

Tonight the season finale of Survivor: China aired. I was a happy girl to find out that Todd was the winner. If hotie James couldn’t win, I had wanted Todd to win it. He was the most strategic player all season long.

It came down to Courtney, Amanda & Todd in the final three and the jury voted to give the million to Todd.

We found out that Erik & Jaime are now dating in real life. (He told Jeff that he’s still a virgin.)

James told how he helped a grieving family deal with their loved one’s funeral by letting them take pictures with him. He’s also been recognized on the street a lot and yes, girls, he’s getting a lot of attention from women. (Well, DUH!)

Denise went back home and didn’t get her job back as the lunch lady. Instead, she’s now a janitor and misses her old job.

The three Survivors with the most votes were Denise, Peih-Gee and James. The viewers voted and awarded a $100,000 prize to James. I knew it would be him!

Just then, Mark Burnett himself told Denise that he would give her $50,000 to get her situation squared away properly. Great job, Mark Burnett!! I’m happy that Denise got that to help her family out.

Survivor China: Episode 13, “A Slippery Little Sucker” Live Thoughts - Gina Scarpa, BuddyTV Staff Writer

Well, tonight is the finale of Survivor: China and in my house, we’ve all placed our bets.  We’ve got a vote for Todd, a vote for Amanda, and a vote for Denise.  Sorry, Courtney.  According to Peih-Gee’s interview with BuddyTV, tonight’s episode features a final three like last season, as opposed to a final two.  With nothing in this final episode rivaling Dreamz screwing over Yau Man, I’m wondering how they’re going to fill two hours with a final three.  Of course, they’ll do that thing where they walk through the jungle and remember everyone who played the game.  That always takes up a good 10 minutes.  I also wonder who will have the over the top speech at final tribal council, where they’ll ream out the final three for pretty much no good reason other than to get some attention. 

Cue the unnecessary recap of the entire season.  We know what happened.  That’s why we’re here watching the finale.

The final four get their tree mail for a reward challenge.  They have to scale a Survivor Great Wall and put together a puzzle with pieces that look straight out of Tetris.  The food is only for one: pizza, brownies, soda, and beer.  Todd and Amanda in the lead.  Courtney and Denise are far behind as the other two work on their puzzle.  Amanda wins.  She can eat alone or invite 1 or 2 other people.  That’s rough.  She chooses Todd and apologizes to the other two. Todd! Woohoo! The best player!

Now to my rant….

Denise pissesd me off. She went on about how horrible her life was and that she would have to go back to a $7 hour job. She was playing the sympathy card to the max and it made me sick. How about the other people on the show. Just because the other Survivors didn’t talk about their financial situations does not mean they have any more than her. Not everyone feels comfortable talking about how POOR they are! I’m sure the first guy that lives on a small farm isn’t racking in the big bucks… Or what about the students that could have debts from College!

I also found it hypocritical of the show to give her $50 000. They have the gall to tell me to go on ebay and buy some shitty props to raise money for charity when they just donated $50 000 to a women that is perfectly healthy. They could have gave that money to the charity! I’m sure people dying need the money more than a women who has a shitty job because of herself!

I would be pissed if I were a contestant. It’s not like she is getting zero out of this! Like I said before, I’m sure at least one other person needs the money as much as her. Or a past contestant….. what about them!

Actually she’s eighty-sixed. But let’s say 13 for now because she’s been unlucky on “Survivor: China” And since she was finally voted out this week, I’ll never get a chance for that headline again.

Peih-Gee Law (that’s her last name) wasn’t going to last til the final four, as last surviving member of the old Zhan Hu tribe; she had to go if she didn’t get immunity, and though she came close she came in second to Amanda, to whom she bonded and considered her plan to take out Todd. Or so we were led to believe. It would have been sweet: an all female final four — a “Survivor” first? (I’ll have to do my research).

Instead it will be like “Survivor: Vanuatu” with one male vs. three females. And back then, it was the guy who won — Chris Daughtrey, who went on to sing on “American Idol” and release the year’s best selling album (wait a minute, that was a different Chris Daughtry, without an e. Peih-Gee won immunity to keep herself alive in Survivor: China Episode 12. Unable to convince an admittedly outcast Denise to get rid of Todd, Erik ended up going home as could have been expected.

The reward challenge involves a replica of an early Chinese repeating crossbow. Each contestant gets arrows and must decide who to give them to (anybody but themselves), then they’ll shoot the arrows they get and try to connect with targets containing their name. More… »

The less-obvious contenders have made it to the finals, but who can win it?

Peih-Gee Law, Todd Herzog, Courtney Yates, and Amanda Kimmel may not be physically intimidating or especially cunning, but it looks like they’re most likely to make the final four on “Survivor: China.”

During “Survivor: China’s” 11 weeks, the contestants who appeared stronger externally have been systematically voted out by less-obvious contenders.

Professional poker player Jean-Robert, professional wrestler Ashley, James and his two hidden immunity idols, hard-working and obnoxious Dave and Parkour athlete Frosti are all out of the competition.

Remaining are a school-lunch lady, a waitress, a flight attendant, a jeweler and a hiking guide. None of them appear to be particularly cunning or extraordinarily physically strong.

But as in life, external attributes are poor indicators of success on “Survivor,” which rewards those who, as the show’s logo says, “outwit, outlast and outplay.” That’s exactly what the final five have done.

The choices they’ve made have brought them to this stage of the game, and one will be rewarded with $1 million. Who has the best shot of winning? That depends largely upon what happens with the challenges during the final two episodes, but also upon how well they remain in control of the strengths that brought them this far.

Peih-Gee

Odds of winning: Strong, but only if she wins immunity challenges.

As the last remaining member of a tribe that’s been decimated by the opposing, dominant tribe, Peih-Gee is in a tough position, as she’s now their sole target. “Survivor” makes it possible for people in her position to remain in the game, however. All she needs to do is continue to win individual immunity.

That’s not out of the question, as she’s won it twice so far. And thanks to the alliance going after its own or others, she has survived all five weeks in the merged tribe. If she makes it to the final three, the jury — which right now is composed of four of her former original tribemates — could reward her for remaining in the game against those tough odds. But it’s probably likely that she’ll end up sitting with them.

Survivor: China - Bird Calls, Butt Blurs, Uncomfortable Accusations and a Stuffy Englishman

That was the best family member reward challenge in Survivor history.  So many weird things, so much fun.  Besides Amanda’s sister receiving the same butt blur-out from the editors as Amanda, besides the improbable win by Denise and her husband, besides Todd’s cute sister and her tragic news, besides Erik’s mom being appalled by her son’s weight loss, and besides Peih-Gee’s father and his goofy smile, the best part of the family challenge was Courtney’s father.  So, wait, Courtney’s dad is English and named Graham?  How the hell did that happen?

Graham cracked me up.  He was an English stereotype, running in as proper as he could, nice clothes, looking like he absolutely did not want to be there.  If I were Courtney’s father, I would be horrified by how skinny she had become, but Graham appeared indifferent.  And during the challenge, I forgot who did it, but I was audibly cackling when he got hit in the face.  I’m focusing on Graham because Courtney is more and more becoming an enigma, and her randomly English father is just one more piece to the Courtney puzzle. Exclusive Interview: Erik Huffman of ‘Survivor: China’

Those Zhan Hu tribe members have fought tooth and nail to stay in the game since the merge on Survivor: China.  Last night, Erik Huffman was eliminated, leaving Peih-Gee Law as the only Zhan Hu member left in the game.  An immunity necklace sitting on Peih-Gee will keep her in the game for a few more days as she fights to make it to the finale.  Erik was a quiet force in the game, which worried some of his fellow players.  He was well liked by just about everyone and gave a solid effort in every challenge he competed in.  He never made waves and sometimes, found himself out of the loop.  He’s no Survivor expert, and is very new to the game, but Erik has grown to love it and can’t imagine not having had this experience.  Today, he talked to BuddyTV about challenges that were thrown and romances in China.

Hi.

I’m wondering if this is the first year that you tried out for Survivor, and if it’s something you’d been wanting to do for awhile.

This is absolutely my first time applying for Survivor, and I had not watched the show at all until this year.

Really?

Yeah. Well, I started watching a little bit of Survivor: Fiji, and I thought why not go for it. It was something that I thought I would never do, and I thought I would never be able to survive, honestly. Once I started the application process, I got really excited about the game and started watching previous seasons. I think it’s one of those games, and one of those shows, that when you start watching it you get into it and literally can’t stop. You can’t get enough of it.
